Start: De kapitein Almere (Noorderplassen West) Boelijn 70

Route 1

From the Noorderplassen you sail past beautiful houses on the water towards the Beatrixpark, where you will come across a self-service lock. The Beatrixpark is one of the city parks and has a fairytale setting, with large trees and a special gate in the middle of the water. In the park you can moor the boat at the long quay if you like. The waterway takes you along the Den Uylpark, where you can enter the city centre. Via the Olstgracht you reach the Weerwater.

Het Weerwater owes its name to the former Zuiderzee. After the reclamation of the polder, a lot of sand was excavated before the construction of the first residential areas in Almere, creating a lake. Because water was created here again, it was given that name.

From the Weerwater you can easily see the skyline of Almere. Almere has a lot of modern architecture and there are several award winning buildings to be found in Almere Centre. You sail over the Weerwater, pass the grounds of Floriade 2022 and continue straight ahead towards the castle. Here you’ll come across a self-service lock again. When you pass the locks, turn left (port side) and you pass a whole street of houseboats. At the end of the canal you turn left again to come at the Hoge Vaart. At the end of the canal you turn left again to come at the Hoge Vaart. At one of the second red bridges you enter the Noorderplassen again. Behind camping Waterhout you have a beautiful nature reserve on your right, where you can only come by boat. That makes your day on the water all the way. You sail over the Noorderplassen back to the pier.

Route 2 and 3

From the Noorderplassen you sail past beautiful houses on the water towards the Beatrixpark, where you will come across a self-service lock. The Beatrixpark is one of the city parks and has a fairytale setting, with large trees and a special gate in the middle of the water. In the park you can moor the boat at the long quay if you like. From the Weerwater you can easily see the skyline of Almere. Almere has a lot of modern architecture and there are several award winning buildings to be found in Almere Centre. Contrary to route 1, you don’t sail straight across the Weerwater, but all the way along the city centre and end up on the Leeghwaterplas (lake) via a narrow waterway. Here you can choose to sail through the lock again and turn left on to the Hoge Vaart or go via the residential area to the Noorderplassen.
